"Vegan" was born blind, on a beef ranch. Ironically, his blindness is what saved him. The farmer’s wife bottle fed him, and soon grew fond of the little guy. When it was time for the farmer to "do away with him" she would not let him, and begged us to take him. "Vegan" came all the way from New Mexico at eight weeks old.

When he arrived he was very ill and we worked round the clock to restore his health. With patience, dedication and good vet care he was soon healthy and strong. We bottle-fed him for a year, and then we raised enough money for his cataract surgery to repair his vision. It took a long time for us to help him understand what he was seeing for the first time.

He is now four years old and playful as a puppy. He would sleep in our bed if we let him. He loves to be scratched under the chin and groomed for hours.
